When i was a kid, my mom always was yelling at me to stop playing video games and get my homework done. Being the most respectful and wonderful child that i was, I did exactly the opposite. Everyday after school i would come home, get some snacks and sit just a few feet in front of the television for hours upon hours. Only after I satisfied my daily gaming requirements did i do my homework.
Now, 10 years later, I am a full time college student at the end of my second year at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a major in music education. I have above a 3.0 for my GPA, and an established name. This brought an important question to my attention. The games i played were by no means "educational games" yet i apparently have enough coordination and knowledge to be in college. And so i wondered if they are introduced in the learning stages, "Are there benefits to non-educational themed games as well?"
I have done many hours worth of research on the subject and found out that many scientists actually are interested in this topic and that there have been many laboratory studies conducted on this subject as well.
